Weather forecast, unstable week with rain and hail. Easter with the heat, Easter Monday at risk

Next week promises to be full of events from a meteorological point of view, with an alternation between phases of sunny weather and periods of marked bad weather due to the Colomba Cyclone. The next few days, therefore, will not fail to arouse interest, considering the significant atmospheric changes expected. The new week will begin under the aegis of still rather stable weather conditions, thanks to an anticyclonic promontory of African origin. The latter, however, will not be powerful enough to ensure lasting stability.

Bad weather from Tuesday

In fact, starting from Tuesday 26th, there will be a rapid deterioration of the weather which will primarily affect the northern regions with the arrival of rain and some thunderstorms. A phase of marked bad weather will therefore open, accentuated by the formation of a deep cyclonic vortex over Italy (Colomba Cyclone).

This phenomenon will cause a worsening of weather conditions across almost the entire national territory until the entire day of Wednesday 27th, bringing intense rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms and snowfall on the Alpine mountains, even at relatively low altitudes for the season (between 1000 and 1300 meters). This situation will also be accompanied by a strengthening of winds and a notable decrease in temperatures, especially in the North. Starting from Thursday 28th the bad weather will give important signs of easing across a large part of the country and from Friday 29th it will abandon Italy completely, giving way to a milder and more stable climate again. These conditions are expected to persist until at least Saturday 30 March.

Easter and Easter Monday

From the Easter weekend a promontory of the vast African anticyclone still present in Libya and Tunisia will stretch from the Sahara Desert to conquer the central-eastern Mediterranean, thus giving rise to a first wave of seasonal heat, especially in the Centre-South and on the two Major Islands.

In addition to atmospheric stability and lots of sunshine, a scenario of this type would cause a sharp increase in temperatures, with maximum peaks even above 25-26°C (even towards 28°C in the far South).

Be careful though, the high pressure field will not be as granitic, not like in summer so to speak, and in fact we do not exclude the entry of more unstable air at altitude driven by a deep cyclone present in the Atlantic Ocean. In particular, during the afternoon hours of Sunday 31 March (Easter) the classic thunderstorms could occur, first in the Alps, then extending to the adjacent northern plains, especially in the North-West; these would be isolated and short-lived phenomena, but hailstorms cannot be ruled out a priori, given the considerable potential energy involved. Local storms could also reach part of the Center by the evening, especially the regions on the Tyrrhenian side.
