An air mass of maritime polar origin, descending from the Celtic Sea, will bring a drop in temperatures of up to 10°C towards the Centre-South, after reaching the north with snowfalls of up to 800 meters in the border Alps.
The experts on the site www.iLMeteo.it confirm the power of this ‘cold’ break in the heart of April, but indicate that it is only a pseudo-winter illusion. From Thursday the sun and North African heat will return everywhere.
Thunderstorms in the North
In the next few hours we will still have strong thunderstorms in the North, locally in the Center between Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche and Lazio; the most intense phenomena are expected in the Po Valley, especially between Lombardy and Emilia, also with possible local hailstorms. In the Center the phenomena will be more isolated, while in the South we may have some local reverses between Campania and Sicily.
The wind will also be the protagonist: it will blow strongly across Western Liguria, Sardinia and towards the Lower Tyrrhenian Sea.
Snow will continue to fall in the Alps until the afternoon and evening with snow levels rising to around 1700-1800 metres.
Weekend with sun and heat
From Thursday, however, everything will change again with an increase in maximum temperatures of around 6-7°C on the Tyrrhenian coast and by as much as 12-14°C in the Alps: from pseudo-winter we will move on to an almost summer with peaks of 30° C, expected once again next weekend also in the North.
In practice, we will experience a meteorological swing: down 10°C and then up 10°C in 24-36 hours. The thermal collapse will be canceled by Friday by the sudden and sudden increase caused by the comeback of the North African anticyclone.

Trend: return of high pressure, new heat wave even more powerful than that of the weekend of 6-7 April. Prevailing sun until Sunday.
