There are only a few hours left and the Colomba Cyclone will send the first of two disturbances that will follow one another in Italy at least until Wednesday 27 March.
Snow returns to the Alps
After a mostly sunny Monday, rather cold and with some frost in the early morning in the North, but pleasantly spring-like during the day in all regions, from the early hours of Tuesday the weather will be compromised by rainfall, initially of low intensity, then, from afternoon gradually more moderate and widespread, especially in the Centre-North. This first worsening will be driven by Sirocco winds and fueled by colder air at high altitude; the latter will cause snow to return to the Alps on average above 900-1100 metres.
Rain, thunderstorms and hailstorms
The second disturbed impulse will arrive on Wednesday, more powerful than the first, so much so that in the morning most of the northern and central regions will find themselves under rain, thunderstorms with local hailstorms and more snow in the Alps at around 1200 metres. The South will remain on hold, in fact here the weather will worsen significantly in the afternoon, especially in Campania, Basilicata and Puglia. This disturbance will be driven by strong winds of Scirocco and then Libeccio which will cause some storm surges on the exposed coasts.
The African anticyclone brings back the sun
By the evening, the disturbed front will abandon Italy, bringing atmospheric calm. From Thursday and at least until Holy Saturday the pressure will increase again and the African anticyclone will once again bring the sun and a rather mild climate to most of the regions. Only in the Northwest will the weather be more unstable due to the approach of a new depression system.
Easter Monday at risk
This last disturbed context could influence the Easter holidays, first in the North (Sunday 31st, Easter day) and then in many regions for Easter Monday. But the time gap is still long and this trend will necessarily have to be confirmed in the coming days.
