In the next few days the ‘Cyclone della Colomba’ will bring further rainfall. In particular, this deep cyclone will arrive in Italy on Monday evening with lots of rain until Thursday. Then some news is expected for Easter.
In detail, the experts of the ilmeteo.it website predict that the next few hours will see the transit of a Balkan disturbance from the Center towards the South: rains are expected in the Center in the morning then quickly isolated in the South. These rains will be spring-like, alternating with large clearings. In the North the weather will be good except for fog forming in the evening hours.
Palm Weekend: risk of storms
The Palm weekend will begin to feel the effects of the Colomba Cyclone: from the Atlantic Gate, air of distant maritime polar origin will enter the heart of the continent.
Saturday will be at risk of storms in the North, particularly from the afternoon between eastern Lombardy and Triveneto: we will experience the clash between the coldest air mass arriving from the Atlantic and the first warmth of spring, with the possibility of local hailstorms .
This colder impulse will slide quickly towards the East and South during Palm Sunday, causing further local showers on the Adriatic side and in the South, in a much less mild context than the previous days. On Sunday, in fact, strong winds will blow across much of Italy, maximum temperatures will drop by as much as 10 degrees and, only in Sicily, maximum temperatures will remain around 25°C.
With the start of Holy Week, we will enter the climax of the Colomba Cyclone: Monday 25 March will still be a quiet day, then from Tuesday the bad weather will break out.
On Monday, in fact, the sun will be dominant with the first signs of disruption only in the evening on Sardinia, Liguria and the western Alps.
Italy under water and snow
On Tuesday 26 March it will rain all over Italy, on Wednesday especially in the Centre-North (according to the first indications of the meteorological models, to be confirmed given the temporal distance) and on Holy Thursday it will experience the last phenomena moving from West to East. With the Cyclone della Colomba’ we will also find snow in the Alps!
In fact, heavy snowfall is expected on Tuesday 26th above 700-1000 meters (!) with a dusting possible also in the northern Apennines.
But for Easter and Easter Monday days of sunny and even hot weather are expected for the period. But we need to wait a few more days for confirmation.

Friday 22. In the north: good weather except for local fog in the Po Valley. In the center: slightly or partially cloudy with some quick showers in the early morning. In the south: scattered showers.
Saturday 23. In the north: strong storms arriving in the Triveneto mountains, rare in the Lombardy ones. In the center: slightly or partly cloudy. In the south: clear or slightly cloudy.
Sunday 24. In the north: sunny, limited temperature drop. In the center: showers on the Adriatic, windy. In the south: good weather.
