Weather forecast Hungarian Grand Prix: turbulent, chance of thunderstorms

The weather forecast for the Hungarian Grand Prix looks pretty rambunctious. It is expected to be dry at the start of the race, but the chance of thunderstorms increases significantly over the course of the event.

The heat has been high on the Hungaroring for much of the weekend. Yesterday the track even reached a temperature of over 60 degrees. It is also warm today: the mercury is currently at 24 degrees, but at the start of the race at 3:00 pm it could rise to 33 degrees. It is expected to remain cloudy during the day.

Rain tires?

Because there is currently a thunderstorm on the Hungaroring, the track dries less quickly during the day due to the lack of sunlight. The chance of rain in the run-up to the race is quite small, but an hour after the lights have gone out, the chance of thunderstorms is 79 percent. So it may be that the teams have to switch to the wet tires halfway through, although nothing remains as changeable as the weather
