The weather will worsen again within a few hours due to a new cyclonic vortex ready to bring heavy rain to several regions. After a day, that of Saturday 20th, marked by widespread thunderstorms in various parts of Italy, some of which were intense and accompanied by hailstorms, the day of celebration began in a relatively calm context in the Northern regions, with skies appearing at the moment clear or slightly cloudy in these early hours of the morning, but with rather low temperatures for the season.
Weather worsening in the North
However, as the hours pass, according to the forecasts of ilmeteo.it, the meteorological picture will progressively worsen. Already in the afternoon, new rains are arriving starting from the Alpine areas, gradually extending towards the flat areas, in particular the western and central ones, where irregular rains and local thunderstorms are expected. Also pay attention to the snow which may initially fall above 700 metres, but with snow levels decreasing as the hours pass until reaching hilly altitudes by evening.
Stable weather in the Centre-South
In the Center, the situation will be slightly different, with a tendency towards improving weather conditions. The morning could still offer us residual precipitation in the form of showers or thunderstorms, especially in Abruzzo and Molise, with snowfall affecting the Apennine areas above 1200 metres. However, a further improvement is expected from late morning and a clearer afternoon, without any particular significant atmospheric phenomena.
Going down towards the South, even in these areas the atmospheric picture promises a rather evident improvement already in the morning. Precipitation will be sporadic and short-lived, rapidly disappearing as the hours pass, so much so that the afternoon will be characterized by greater stability, with predominantly clear skies except for a few cloudy passages, which however should not lead to significant phenomena.
In summary, while the north of the country prepares to face a new phase of bad weather, the central and southern regions will gradually be able to enjoy milder and more stable conditions, thus marking a clear contrast between the different areas of the country.
The week ahead
Between Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd, particularly in the northern regions, temperatures will struggle to exceed the threshold of 10°C, even recording values of 4/5°C in the most extreme areas of the Northwest, where the snow is expected to arrive at very low altitudes. However, the drop in temperatures will not be limited only to the North. Even in the central and southern regions, some degrees will be lost, both day and night, although less markedly and this thanks to less turbulent weather conditions compared to the North.
Improvement from April 25th
Looking ahead to the second half of the week, significant changes await on the atmospheric front. If the forecasts are confirmed, an intense cyclonic vortex will approach from the west of our continent which will begin to attract milder and more stable currents from the southern sectors, potentially marking a decisive turning point towards a change in the weather-climate landscape. This evolution should materialize towards the end of the week, with the return of high pressure and a rise in temperatures which will gradually return to being decidedly warmer and more pleasant.
