Weather forecast: for Easter and Easter Monday Italy divided into two

Italy divided in two during the Easter holidays. An unseasonal heat wave will hit the South with peaks of 33°C between Easter and Easter Monday, in the North we will often find unstable phases with showers alternating with sunny spells in a decidedly cooler context (highs around 15-18°C in the plains) .

The experts on the website www.iLMeteo.it predict that the dividing line between the almost autumnal and summer weather will run more or less between Lower Tuscany, Umbria and the Marche; north of this imaginary line (Livorno-Ancona) we will have scattered showers, south of this line we will find temperatures around 22-25°C with peaks above 30°C between Sicily, Calabria and Puglia.

Heavy rain in the North

In detail, the next few hours will still see heavy rain between Eastern Liguria and Upper Tuscany, very unstable weather also in the Triveneto with showers, snow in the Alps above 1000 meters and also high water in Venice; along the Tyrrhenian coast there will be slightly more variable moments, elsewhere the weather will definitely improve even if it will remain windy almost everywhere.

It gets better on Friday

From Good Friday the African anticyclone will rise again towards the Balkans and part of Italy: the greatest protection from high pressure is expected over the southern and Adriatic regions, but the day will be fair almost everywhere except for frequent showers in the North-West and the Alps. Theses winds will still blow from the southern quadrants.

Saturday will also see frequent moments of instability in the north-western regions with extension of the phenomena towards Upper Tuscany in the evening; from Livorno downwards the weather will be good, as in the North-East and the entire Adriatic side. Temperatures will be mild across much of the country, but the wind will still be quite brisk.

Easter with variable weather

Let’s get to the most important prediction: Easter e Easter Monday. In recent days we have remembered the uncertainty of the Easter weather due to a Spanish disturbance, slowly and disorderly moving towards Italy.

At first the weather models indicated a rather rapid movement towards our country, then slowed down, now faster again: in other words, it seems that the Spanish disturbance could also affect Northern Italy between Easter and Easter Monday, marginally also Tuscany and the Marche. However, the same disturbance will attract warm air from North Africa with temperatures well above the average for the period in the central southern Italian sector.

In summary, for Easter, showers are expected in the morning in Liguria, the Alps and Triveneto, locally in Upper Tuscany and the rest of the North-West; from the afternoon rains and showers will concentrate on the Alps and Triveneto, elsewhere there will also be some clear spells; as mentioned, south of the ‘imaginary Livorno-Ancona line’, the weather will be mostly dry, sunny and warm for the period.

Easter Monday between showers and sunny spells

For Easter Monday the situation should be very similar with showers in the Centre-North (also possible in Lazio and Sardinia), alternating however with more sunny spells from the afternoon.

In short, we will have a variable context except in the South and in much of the Adriatic area, where the weather will be almost summer or decidedly summer. An Italy divided in two.
