Weather forecast, Easter Monday with orange and yellow alerts. Landslide on the A23 Udine-Tarvisio motorway

The firefighters have been busy on the A23 motorway, at km 64, since 6.45 am due to a landslide after the Campiolo tunnel: debris has invaded the roadway, no vehicles hit by the boulders. This was reported by the firefighters themselves who explain that the intervention is underway and the motorway is closed in both directions.

The cyclonic vortex from France

Meanwhile, in the next few hours, a part of Italy will still be affected by irregular rains and some local thunderstorms: in short, as per tradition, it will not be a dry Easter Monday everywhere, on the contrary. The cause of the instability is to be attributed to a cyclonic vortex moving from France towards Germany, driving yet another disturbed front of these Easter holidays.

The rains move

After a rather capricious Easter day for the northern regions, Easter Monday is also expected to be rather unstable. The rains, which in recent days had mainly affected the North, will also begin to move towards part of the Centre, where a gradual but significant deterioration of the weather is expected over the course of the day. To tell the truth, the heaviest rainfall will still affect the northern regions in the early morning, from the North-West to the North-East, where residual thundershowers cannot be ruled out. These phenomena, although becoming less frequent as the hours pass, highlight an atmosphere that is anything but stable.

In the South, thermometers are rising

In fact, over the course of the day, we will see a gradual worsening in the Center too, with rain more likely in Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio and along the entire Apennine ridge. Showers will be less frequent and less intense along the Adriatic coast, while in the South good weather conditions will remain for most of the day, although isolated rainfall is expected in Campania towards the evening. As regards temperatures, no significant variations are expected in the Centre-North. In the South, however, a further rise in thermometers is expected, with a climate that will continue to be almost summery, in particular between Sicily and Tyrrhenian Calabria.

Civil protection alert

Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the regions involved, which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned, has issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. The weather phenomena, impacting the different areas of the country, could determine hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities which are reported, in a national summary, in the national criticality and alert bulletin which can be consulted on the Department’s website.

I phenomena

The warning predicts from the early hours of Monday 1st April, scattered to widespread rainfall, including showers or thunderstorms, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. These phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, possible hailstorms. and strong gusts of wind. On the basis of the expected phenomena, it was evaluated for Monday 1st April, orange alert on part of Valle d’Aosta, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna e yellow alert on the entire territory of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige and Umbria, on the remaining sectors of the Aosta Valley, on large areas of Veneto, Lombardy, Piedmont Liguria, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.

Snow in Trentino Alto Adige

Snow on the mountains at around 1,500 meters and rain at lower altitudes. Easter Monday 2024 characterized by bad weather in Trentino Alto Adige and not ideal for the classic ‘trip out of town’. The snow falls heavily on the mountains and on the ski slopes. It’s snowing in the Dolomites, it’s snowing in the Madonna di Campiglio area. On mountain roads, especially in the province of Bolzano, the road surface is covered in snow. For safety reasons, six Dolomite passes have been closed: Gardena, Pordoi, Fedaia, Valparola, Falzarego and Giau. The winter closure remains for the Stelvio, Rombo, Pennes and Stalle passes.
