About 48 hours after the event, the cold system that will mark the time towards the weekend of Valentine’s Day is confirmed almost in full. Forecast under the banner of winter conditions that will see the bad weather more intense and extended, with mainly snowy phenomena, between the evening of Friday 12, the night on Saturday and during the day of Saturday 13 February. In this phase, in fact, as soon as the icy air begins to break into the northern regions of the upper Adriatic, then gradually penetrating towards the central areas and breaking through the Tyrrhenian, a minimum depression will be activated right on the central Tyrrhenian areas, evolving towards the southern ones. The swirling structure will activate intense unstable fronts from the sea towards the mainland which will be found to act in an increasingly colder thermal field due to freezing cold air inflowing from Eastern Europe. According to current forecast, the first areas to see snowfall up to the plains will be the Piedmontese ones, for most of the day of Friday 12, snow also on Turin city. Then, as the minimum from the Gulf of Lion will move and deepen towards the medium-high Tyrrhenian, snow will begin to affect Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, then Tuscany, Umbria, Marche up to low altitudes. and up to Abruzzo in the afternoon. Minimum all medium-high Tyrrhenian, on Friday evening, with abundant snow spread up to low altitude or in the plains between central northern Tuscany, northern Umbria, Marche and northern Abruzzo, snow at low altitude over southern Tuscany and also towards the eastern Lazio hills , from Molise to north-eastern Campania.
It is in the night between Friday and Saturday and then for the course of the day Saturday, that the forecast indicate the most intense phase of snow instability, with minimal depression gradually shifting towards the middle-lower Tyrrhenian, thermal drop also towards the whole South and snowfalls extended to the plain between Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo, at low altitude in the North and East Lazio and at low altitude also towards almost all the southern Apennine sectors, up to the North of Calabria, Sila area, at low altitude or in the hills up to Aspromonte in the evening. For the rest of the weekend, the forecast they calculate the extension of the freezing action to practically the whole country, up to Sicily, with cold everywhere from North to South, but snowfall in cessation on most of the sectors, due to the definitive removal of the minimum depression towards Greece. Cold impulses from the Adriatic Sea will be possible only towards the South of the Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, locally towards the northern Apulian reliefs, the north-eastern Campania ones, here still with local “stau” snowfalls, of course up to the plain even on the coasts, some also on the eastern coasts of Cosentino.
