New heat record
Meteorologists now fear that the standing European heat record of 48 degrees could be broken on Monday.
– In the southeast of Europe it is scorching hot right now! The sun is roasting and many places have soon reached 40 degrees, the Meteorological Institute writes on Twitter.
It is stated that the heat wave is due to a stationary high pressure that acts as a lid over the hot air.
