Weather conditions force SpaceX to postpone its first manned space flight

The launch of SpaceX’s first manned flight has been postponed to Saturday, 17 minutes before the scheduled takeoff time on Wednesday. Elon Musk’s company made the decision on Wednesday due to inclement weather to avoid an accident.

“Dragon, SpaceX: unfortunately, we are not going to launch today,” SpaceX launch director at Kennedy Space Center in Florida announced to the two astronauts aboard the Crew Dragon capsule.

“It was a great team effort, we understand,” said astronaut Doug Hurley, who had been inside the capsule for two hours with teammate Bob Behnken. The next attempt will take place on Saturday at 3:22 p.m. (9:22 p.m. Swiss time).

It was played within ten minutes, according to SpaceX. But the rocket had to take off at exactly 4:33 p.m. and could not wait this ten minutes for the weather to clear, because the launch time was fixed in order to coordinate the trajectory of the capsule and that of the International Space Station (ISS), that the astronauts must join in this demonstration mission.
