Offenbach am Main, October 29, 2021 – All over the world, weather data is collected by meteorologists in order to determine the current weather. All the data put together represent a weather observation. But even without a supercomputer, the weather can be determined with small means and a little patience, observation and practice. Young and old alike can find out exactly how to do this at the two and a half hour “Weather Observation” course, which will take place for the first time on Sunday, November 7th at 2:30 pm.
The meeting point is on the banks of the Main at the level of the Isenburg Palace at Schlossstrasse 33 in front of the signs for the climate route. The passage to the Main opposite the castle can be used.
During the event, the flight of the clouds is tracked, the shape and size recognized and the cloud types determined. It is also observed whether the sky is completely, partially or not at all covered with clouds. Where does the wind come from today and how fast or strong is it? Is it raining, snowing or storming? Observing with your eyes and measuring with weather instruments is a prerequisite for recognizing the current weather. Because the weather instruments help to provide precise information about the weather elements such as air temperature, air pressure, humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in order to draw the right conclusions together with the other observations. Observing the weather is not only exciting, it also invites parents and children one to get to know and understand weather events and connections to the weather of today, tomorrow and yesterday.
The number of participants is limited. To register at infoweather workshopfrom is asked. The costs are 8 euros for adults and 2.50 euros for children aged 10 and over.
Since the course takes place largely outside, you should think of enough warm clothing. The 3G regulation applies. For children, the tests that are carried out in school and kindergarten apply.
Further dates are on December 5th, January 16th, February 6th and March 6th.
