From Thursday July 21 at 12:00 p.m. to Saturday July 23 at 6:00 p.m.
Situation
The episode of very hot weather ended in 3 quarters of the country, linked to the arrival of cooler ocean air from the Atlantic. The sometimes heavy stormy showers which affected the north and east of the country evacuated towards the Benelux and Germany.
This Thursday and until the weekend the episode of strong heat persists in the south-east, more particularly between the Rhone valley, Provence and the Languedoc hinterland.
Observation
This Thursday
A 12h00, it is in the Var that the heat is most marked with temperatures already varying from 33 to 36°C in the hinterland. In the other departments concerned by the orange heatwave alert, the values are a little lower with 28 to 32°C on average. The mistral is blowing in the Rhône valley at 40 to 50 km/h in gusts, increasing the risk of fire.
A 9h00, the night was once again tropical in the Rhone Valley and near the Mediterranean. Temperatures are already between 23 and 28°C in departments on orange heat wave alert and between 18 and 23°C in departments on yellow alert. For example, there were 23°C in Lyon Bron (Rhône), 25°C in Montélimar (Drôme), 26°C in Nîmes (Gard) and up to 28°C in Luc in the Var.
Evolution
This Thursday afternoon, the very high temperatures now only concern the south-eastern regions, between the Rhône valley, the Languedoc hinterland, the PACA region and Corsica. We expect between 34 and 38°C in the shade on the departments on orange heat wave alert.
This Friday, a further rise in temperatures is expected in the direction of the Rhône-Alpes region, and in particular the Lyonnais. Afternoon temperatures will reach 35 to 38°C from Provence to Lyonnais after a still tropical night near the Mediterranean and in the main cities.
This Saturday, temperatures will drop again from the middle Rhône valley to Lyonnais with values not exceeding 28 to 32°C during the day. On the other hand, the heat wave will continue in the lower Rhône valley and Provence with a new tropical night and highs between 34 and 37°C.
This episode of very hot weather should last at least until the end of the month near the Mediterranean.
