Fog poses risks for drivers along Maritsa, Tunja, Vidin region. They will linger throughout the day and visibility will be reduced. And in the coming days, new precipitation and a serious worsening of the weather are expected, forecaster Petar Yankov announced.
“On Friday evening, it will start raining again. And on Saturday it will rain, the precipitation will change to snow, during the night of Sunday the wind will increase. In the Danube plain, it will be up to 60 km/h, in Dobruja – up to 70 km/h, north of Varna – up to 90 km/h. These are speeds at which a person can hardly stand up. There will be a lot of damage,” warned the forecaster on the air of “Bulgaria morning”.
The mountains will accumulate 30-50 cm of new snow cover, above 1800 meters. Calculations show that the total rainfall will be 30-50 liters in the eastern regions, 14-20 in the western part of the country, 5-7 in the rest. The grades will be around 1-7.
“The snow cover on Sunday will be 10-15 cm in the northern regions, with conditions for blizzards. The situation will be serious, again the triangle Dobrich – Varna to Balchik to Kavarna will be the most dangerous. I call on all citizens who are going to travel, to postpone it if possible,” Petar Yankov told bgonair.
He urged motorists not to park their cars near tall trees, especially poplars, which are vulnerable to strong winds.
At the beginning of next week, the degrees will be negative – the maximum up to 0-1.
“On the weekend in the southern regions, it will be difficult to keep the snow cover, next week on Tuesday, intense snowfall is expected mainly in the southern regions. The snow cover is expected to be 5 cm in the populated areas. On Thursday, the conditions will improve, with more sun will be next Saturday and Sunday. It can be used by all lovers of mountain tourism and skiers,” predicted the forecaster.
According to him, the ski season can be opened in Pamporovo as early as next weekend with the then accumulated snow cover of 40-50 cm and when the slopes are processed.
