High levels of rain were recorded last month in many parts of the country, according to the meteo of the National Observatory

In particular, as meteo scientists report, after a rainy winter and a relatively dry spring for most of the country – with the exception of the west – May 2023 presented an exceptionally rainy face. According to the records of the network of 458 automatic weather stations of the National Observatory of Athens / Meteo.gr. high rainfall levels occurred in the last month of spring in the Ionian, continental, Crete and Dodecanese.
At the same time, in several areas the number of rainy days was the highest on record since 2008.
Meteo scientists, however, point out that May is a month in which it is normal to see several rains and storms in the form of instability, especially in the midday and evening hours. It is indicative that locally high rainfall amounts and a large number of rainy days were also observed in 2007, 2011, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
