The former spokesperson for the Valais police should not have loaned one of his pistols to a loved one, between February and August 2015. The law provides that one who makes a weapon available to a third party must ensure that the latter has the necessary authorization.
However, qualifying the fault as “light”, the TC did not increase Jean-Marie Bornet’s sentence to 20 suspended day fines and a fine of 800 francs, as requested by the Public Prosecutor.
This judgment can be challenged before the Federal Court. The ex-officer’s lawyer Beatrice Pilloud says the decision has not yet been made. “The Public Prosecutor will not, in principle, have recourse,” informs for his part the Attorney General Nicolas Dubuis.
