NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The record series on the stock markets in the USA did not continue on Tuesday. Surprisingly weak numbers from the important retail sector and the rising number of corona infections put pressure on prices in early trading. The leading index Dow Jones Industrial, which had reached another record high in the last few minutes of trading the day before, lost 0.74 percent to 35,362 points.
The market-wide S&P 500 , which had also reached a record high at the beginning of the week, fell by 0.54 percent to 4,456 points. For the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 it went down by 0.70 percent to 15 039 points. It is still a bit away from its high at the beginning of August.
