While the hope was that the first victory would give MVV confidence, the truth was painfully different: in IJmuiden MVV was outplayed by Telstar: 4-0.
MVV had a collective off day and was surprised time and again by long balls from goalkeeper Ronald Koeman jr. The Star Bearers were – especially after the 2-0 – outplayed on all fronts and showed far too little both offensively and defensively. Telstar won almost all duels and also scored four beautiful goals. MVV only had a few opportunities in the first half, but simply did not deserve a goal. 4-0 in IJmuiden are as painful as hard figures,
MVV has five days to lick its wounds and straighten its back, because then the beautiful poster against FC Volendam awaits in De Geusselt. With one positive point: the worst match of the season has (hopefully) already been played….
