We won’t let you govern while ignoring the current issue, warns Bassil

The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Representative Gebran Bassil, stressed in a speech during the eighth national conference of the “Free Patriotic Movement” at the Habtoor Hotel, that “we remain March 14 when everyone forgets that, because freedom, sovereignty and independence are implanted in our national genes and because liberation is not complete without the liberation of the Lebanese and their state from The duality of corruption and authoritarianism.

He said, “The questions this year are existential, and the options are related to fate, the republic and its survival, and the accelerating collapse requires finding solutions and not describing the problems. We in the movement have the proposal, but we do not have the solution on our own.”

And he believed that “Lebanon, the entity, the homeland, the state, the model, and the message, are in danger, and the existence of all of us as Lebanese is in danger if we continue to confront each other, rejecting dialogue as a way to salvation. In Lebanon, there is no parliamentary majority for one party alone, and it will never be, and we are forced to agree and stop treason.”

He emphasized that “the backbone of the movement is getting stronger with its cause and principles, and trying to isolate the movement is the best recipe for strengthening it, but its result is bad for the country, because building the state will fail without us. Thus, we return to the clear and complete opposition.”

He pointed out that “the crimes of the Governor of the Banque du Liban are continuing, and his circulars are open and described daily theft with several dollar prices to complete the theft of depositors’ money.” The Harami, because we are the reform in Lebanon.

And he stressed that “the rulers of chance are going and we are staying, and the displaced and refugees will return to their countries and we will stay in our country.”

He said: “Today and tomorrow we are the sovereignty in Lebanon. This country, which remains unique, must be preserved with comprehensive sovereignty, the first of which is its free decision, and it is governed by equitable partnership, and its cultural identity is preserved, provided that it remains Lebanese, regardless of its diversity, because the Lebanese is a bond of belonging, we want Lebanon to have the best relations with The countries of the world, especially the Arab countries, and specifically the Gulf countries, but we reject everything that harms our existence. We do not want to turn east to be a spite of the West, nor to turn west due to enmity towards the East.”

He continued, “We want Lebanon to be neutral from disputes and conflicts, committed to international laws and covenants, and protected by the agreement of all the Lebanese with a defense strategy that increases its immunity, and is not at the expense of anyone, and everyone feels that they are part of it and benefit from its strength.”

And he continued: “The system besieged the strong president and gathered against him, and did the impossible impossible to overthrow him and could not. Today they will bring the weak president, so that he will fall as a rule in their hands, and they want a president devoid of a program, thought and people, they want a president who restores the country’s hour instead of introducing the hour of reform in it, and I say To you: “The hour has come as long as you don’t turn it back.”

He added, “They want a president who separates Lebanon from the world, just as they separated it from world time by Humayouni’s decision, and turned the problem into a sectarian one to hide the IMF report against them, but they will not be able to turn the timing into a sectarian issue because you want to run the country as you deal with the story of the clock, but we will not allow you.”

He said, “I am a natural and logical candidate because I am the head of the movement with the largest parliamentary bloc, but I did not run so as not to be a cause of emptiness, and we made a big concession to the Grand Solution, so they interpreted our facilitating position as weakness and launched a campaign against us and placed wrong bets on the movement’s fragmentation and dismantling.”

Bassil stressed that “what is required is to save the country, so what will benefit us if we win all positions, and lose Lebanon? Which republic remains for us to head, and which people remain for us to rule, and which current remains for us to struggle through?”

He stressed that “any understanding that does not depend first on the interest of Lebanon will fall and will not continue, and every understanding in which the parties balance and share the concept of prioritizing Lebanon’s interest over its interests will last and stand despite all the blows.”
