Ministry of defence China Wu Qian had an argument with the Minister of Defense United States of America Lloyd Austin while discussing independence Taiwan. Wu Qian said he would not hesitate to start a war if Taiwan declared independence.
As reported by AFP, Friday (10/6/2022), Wu Qian met face-to-face with Austin in Singapore to discuss Taiwan’s independence. On that occasion, the two defense ministers had an argument.
“If anyone dares to separate Taiwan from China, the Chinese army will definitely not hesitate to start a war no matter the cost,” Wu Qian said during a meeting with Lloyd Austin.
Furthermore, Wu Qian also vowed that Beijing would crush every ‘Taiwan independence’ plot to pieces. He said that his party would firmly uphold the unification of the homeland.
“Taiwan is China’s Taiwan… Using Taiwan to contain China will never work,” he said.
Meanwhile, Austin responded to Wu Qian. He called on China to refrain from destabilizing actions against Taiwan.
“Beijing must refrain from further destabilizing actions against Taiwan,” the US Department of Defense said.
To note, Taiwan, a self-governing democratic island, lives under constant threat of Chinese invasion. Beijing views the island as its territory and vows to one day seize it, by force if necessary.
