Mexico City. The Labor Party (PT) said that in the six-year term that is about to end, the Executive and Legislative Powers have been transformed, “and the one that is still missing, but we are going to transform it, is the Judicial Power, without a doubt. The people of Mexico mandated us to transform the nation.”
During the session of the General Congress that kicked off the LXVI Legislature, and in which moments before the last report of the federal government was delivered by the Ministry of the Interior, federal deputy Reginaldo Sandoval Flores stated that “in the neoliberal period, with 135 decrees, our Constitution was reformed 495 times. None in favor of the people, all in favor of the oligarchy.”
At the same time, during the current six-year term, 63 articles have been amended with 24 decrees. “Therefore, without a doubt we are going to reform the Constitution to change the Judicial Power, put it at the service of the people, put an end to the last bastion that the right and the oligarchy have in the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, which is not a court of justice, it is a court of corruption, and that is why we are going to transform it without a doubt,” he added.
As part of the PT’s position regarding the presidential report, it said that the “overrepresented” parties in the Congress of the Union are those of the opposition.
Following the opposition’s complaints about the composition of the Chambers of Deputies, he argued that the coalition Let’s Keep Making History obtained 256 of the 300 electoral districts, which represents, he said, 85 percent of the national territory and this coalition won 30 states in the Senate formulas.
While “of the 2,477 municipalities in this country, the coalition Let’s Keep Making History only lost in 125, to give you an idea. Of the 32 entities, we won 31, the only loss was in Aguascalientes. And yet you still come to say that we have no legitimacy, that we are overrepresented. No, you are the ones who are overrepresented.”
In defending the policy of the administration that is about to end, Sandoval asserted that the opposition’s positions reflect the two visions of the nation, and “it saddens me that at this point they still have a wrong diagnosis and want to continue on the same path that the people have them on now.”
After considering this a historic day for the beginning of the second stage of the 4T, he told the opposition that “we need them to change, to learn, to listen to the people so that they can have a political future in this nation. If not, they will suffer the same fate as the PRD. We want them to defend themselves and assert what they really represent.”
He also claimed that the PT supported López Obrador since he ran for the position of Head of Government in 2000. “Thanks to the PT votes he was Head of Government because if not, Creel would have won.” While after 2006, he pointed out that the PT never met institutionally with Felipe Calderón, since they did not recognize him as president.
Regarding the 2012 elections, he considered that it was that year when “the high treason of the PRD and its leadership occurred.” He then asked: “Where is the PRD now?”
