An opportunity that will help reduce the infectiousness of coronavirus by 80-90 percent was discovered by scientists from the University of California (USA). They published their research in the journal Cell.
Scientists have established that cell infection is mainly promoted by the carbohydrates of heparan sulfate found in the human body. They serve as a kind of conductor for the virus to enter the cell.
The researchers conducted an experiment in which enzymes were able to remove heparan sulfate. Its absence made the penetration of the virus into the cell almost impossible.
