/ world today news/ Our country will receive about 1.8 billion euros of European funds by the end of 2014. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Zinaida Zlatanova. She took part in a seminar against corruption and fraud in relation to the European structural and investment funds.
Corruption is still a challenge for Bulgaria and Europe. It costs BGN 120 billion to the European economy annually, explained Zlatanova.
European solidarity is extremely important for the development of the regions and the provision of employment in a period of economic crisis. Bulgaria will have access to 15 billion euros for the entire program period until 2020. The common interest has always been for these funds to reach the citizens of Bulgaria. Financial resources from the European Council are of strategic importance for our country, the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.
Transparency of procedures, effective implementation of measures, reform of legislation to improve control are some of the measures that can be used to reduce corruption, Zlatanova believes. And he specified that in the coming days all contracts concluded by the government should be announced.
