ASSOCIATIONS AND CORONA: The rural women’s association Köndringen-Teningen maintains contacts – but personal ones are missing.
. The corona pandemic restricts public life. The clubs are also affected. The Badische Zeitung therefore asks how the clubs have experienced the past few months and how they look to the future. Today: Lucia Lehmann from the rural women’s association Köndringen-Teningen.
»What effects does the pandemic have on club life?
A varied and ambitious annual program was presented at the annual general meeting on January 24, 2020. We all looked forward to many joint events.
But only the first two events could take place. The popular Easter market was supposed to take place on March 21st. The rural women offer self-made products for sale: Easter decorations, flowers, honey, handicrafts from the kitchen and garden, cakes, beer, soup. At the age of 25 it should be an anniversary Easter market. Shortly before the Easter tree with a large Easter wreath and new decoration was to be set up, the Easter market was canceled. Our big soup festival was also canceled. It always takes place in September.
How did the club react to the restrictions?
We always hoped, but gradually we had to cancel all events. Because of the responsibility for all of us, most things have failed due to the corona: traveling together, lectures, singing, walking, gymnastics. Also in view of the fact that the majority of the club members belonged to the risk groups, we did not want to take any risks.
In spring 2020, some creative members sewed mouth and nose masks. We gave this in exchange for a donation. As soon as it was possible, we resumed Nordic walking and gymnastics courses with appropriate hygiene concepts. We were able to react flexibly here and did not take the summer break.
The country women choir was either unable to rehearse or rehearsed outdoors in the summer. There are currently no rehearsals.
How will club life go on?
We are a dedicated, well-functioning board team. We are in contact with the members. Last year we distributed an Advent letter with a self-made star of hope and recently an Easter surprise to our members. We have received a lot of positive feedback for this.
We keep in touch via Whatsapp and email. A lot of information can be found on our homepage http://www.landfrauen-koendringen-tenigen.de Members with a milestone birthday are visited and favorite country women products are given away or sold.
The rural women have an active district association. In addition, the southern Baden association offers interesting online seminars that everyone can participate in. We will try to reissue our unusual 2020 annual program in 2022. We will react flexibly in 2021. This is what the country women are known for.
We all lack the social contacts, the conversations, the exchange and also the touch and that’s why we are especially looking forward to the face-to-face events.
