Speaking during a virtual meeting of the Arab League, Shoukry said that the crisis in Libya has direct consequences for Egypt’s national security. (Also read: Arab countries condemn Turkey and Iran for being too involved)
“We have seen and monitored Turkish intervention to destabilize Libya, which involves practices that prolong the conflict, not only in Libya, but throughout the region,” he said, as reported by Al Arabiya on Thursday (09/10/2020).
“This includes Turkey’s documented involvement in transporting mercenaries and terrorists from Syrian territory, in an effort to recreate the conditions that Turkey has built in Syria on the Libyan front,” he continued.
He went on to say that in the face of Turkey’s proven ambitions in northern Iraq, particularly Syria and Libya, Egypt would not stand by tied hands. (Also read: Pathetic! Prayers for years but not accepted, what is the reason?)
“Instead, we take a stance, when we declare the front line of Sirte-Jufra a red line, we will not accept anyone to cross regardless of their identity, and we thank the Arab brothers and sisters for their strong support, “he snapped.
