Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati stressed that his party will no longer provide a tax amnesty program. The Voluntary Disclosure Program (PPS) aka tax amnesty volume II has been closed after being held from January 1 to June 30, 2022.
“We will no longer provide the tax amnesty program,” said Sri Mulyani at a press conference at the DGT office of the Ministry of Finance, South Jakarta, Friday (1/7/2022).
Tax amnesty volume II closes with a total income tax (PPh) that the state has successfully pocketed reaching Rp 61.01 trillion. There were 247,918 taxpayers who joined the disclosed net assets of IDR 594.82 trillion.
Sri Mulyani Furthermore, the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance will carry out compliance and law enforcement efforts for all taxpayers from the data obtained.
“This is not in order to give fear, but I want to convey that we will carry out the law consistently and of course as transparently and accountably as possible,” he said.
Sri Mulyani explained that the tax amnesty program volume II aims to create a fair tax. For those who can afford it, they are asked to pay taxes to help those who can’t afford it.
“There are various benefits, namely developing Indonesia. So in this case tax is a translation of the principle of mutual cooperation, justice,” he added.
