“We will never forget”. The Zelensky couple honored the memory of the victims of the Holodomors in Ukraine (video)

The President stressed that the exact number of victims of the Holodomors is unknown, but the Ukrainians managed to survive them, and today “there is someone to pass on the memory to the next generations.”

On November 27, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenskaya attended an event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Holodomor Victims, which took place at the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide. About it informs press service of the Office of the President.

During the event, the head of state and the first lady laid compositions of spikelets near the “Bitter memory of childhood” sculpture. After that, a nationwide minute of silence was announced.

The children present at the ceremony handed lighted lamps to the Zelenskys couple. Their president and his wife installed on the Black Plank Alley.

Also during the event, Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with speech, in which he stressed that on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Holodomors, Ukrainians honor millions of their dead ancestors.

“What is the exact number of Ukrainians who died? Will we ever be able to establish it? What truth do we still do not know? Will we ever be able to find out about it? How could the authorities then live with all this and hide the crimes for years, decades?” Will we ever be able to forget about them? The answer to this question we know – no. We will never and never forget our ancestors, who died in 1921, 22nd and 23rd years. In 1946 and 1947. And in the most terrible, the 32nd and 33rd years of the Holodomor-genocide, arranged by the totalitarian Stalinist regime, “Zelensky said during his speech.

The President stressed that next year marks the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor and by this date the construction of the second stage of the museum dedicated to him should be completed.

“We still do not know the names of many Ukrainians who died from the Holodomor. He destroyed entire families, streets, villages. So there is no one to ask. But he could not destroy us to the end. So there is someone to remember this. And there is someone pass the memory on to the next generations, “Zelensky assured.

Let’s remind, in the middle of October the screening of a film about the Holodomor was disrupted in Moscow… Unknown people burst into the building where the broadcast was supposed to take place, shouting “shame” and “fascists”.

In May the state of Texas recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine as genocide.
