We will have to wait to enjoy the cinema on the big screen or to see a play in our theaters | Radio Murcia

Despite the fact that since yesterday, with the entry into Phase 2 of the de-escalation, movie theaters can now reopen, in Murcia they have not, with small exceptions.

Listen to an Interview with Juan Pablo Soler, Romea and Circo Murcia programmer, and Ángel Cruz, Regional Film Library director at Play SER

The two large companies that make up almost all theaters in the region, Cinesa and Neocine, have not opened because they consider that the limited capacity is not profitable for them, to which is added that there are very few premieres right now.

At the moment today the date is set to reopen, although everything indicates that they will wait for Phase 3, next month, to resume normality. Rocío Freixinos, national manager of NeoCine has explained that her idea is to open in the second half of June and they will do so with all security measures.

The exception is in the cinemas of the Almenara de Lorca shopping center, which has resumed its billboard with films such as “1917”, “The Invisible Man”, “Bad Boys For Life”, “The Gentleman”, which were already there before, because the premieres They won’t arrive until July. According to its manager, Sebastián Miñarro, all the security measures established by the health authorities have been implemented, both at the entrance and inside the rooms and although until we move forward it will be difficult moments, the idea is to resume the normality that may be possible.

Where if you can go to the movies from Friday is to the Regional Film Library, which will reopen with the screening of La Dolce Vita. To begin with, until July 4, tickets will be free. Ángel Cruz is the coordinator of the regional Film Library.

As for the theaters in Murcia, they will not open either “until the protocols regarding the public and work on stage are clear,” although they speak of the month of September.

What they will do is present the next season’s programming before the holidays. Anyway, says Juan Pablo Soler, the programmer of the Romea and Circo theaters in Murcia, even if they had wanted to recover something it would have been difficult because not even the companies are rehearsing and the public has had the courage to buy tickets. In addition, they are collaborating on proposals that the city council is studying for the summer.
