“I want to assure you that India and I personally will do everything possible to find a solution to the war in Ukraine.” This is the message launched by the Indian premier, Narendra Modi, who met the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, on the sidelines of the G7. It was the first meeting between the two leaders since the outbreak of the conflict between Kiev and Russia. “The war in Ukraine is a big problem for the whole world. It has had many different impacts all over the world. But I don’t see the conflict as a political or economic problem. For me, this is a question of humanity, a question of human values” the words of the Eastern premier.
Modi then expressed on Twitter “our clear support for dialogue and diplomacy so that a way forward can be found to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. We will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine.” Modi posted a photo of himself and Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 summit taking place in Hiroshima, Japan. “During the meeting, I spoke about Ukraine’s needs for humanitarian demining and mobile hospitals. I informed Narendra Modi about the peace formula initiative and invited India to participate” commented the number one in Kiev after the face-to-face meeting.
