Saint-Denis (AFP) – “We wanted to write our history,” said scrum half Antoine Dupont, captain of the XV of France, after the victory against England (23-15), synonymous with the tenth Grand Slam in the Six Nations Tournament.
Q: How do you feel after this win?
A: “This is our third Tournament together. The first two, we just failed. We were able to realize the difficulty: each match is difficult, we measured it this year. When the outcome is happy, it “It’s good to all enjoy together, to celebrate. Of course we’re happy. These are incredible emotions. We can use all the superlatives but we just want to enjoy together.”
Q: Are you aware that you are part of a great line of captains like Christian Carrère, Jean-Pierre Rives…?
A: “You are forgetting Fabien Galthié! (laughs) Of course, it brings back a lot of memories but today, we wanted to win first for ourselves, for the staff, for our supporters. We wanted to write our story. Even if we know that we are part of an already huge track record, in line with players and teams who have won a lot and from whom we can draw inspiration.”
Q: Do you already have your eye on the 2023 World Cup?
A: “Obviously, we all have it in mind, we talk about it enough around us, we talk about it enough among ourselves. There, we are already going to enjoy the victory, the Grand Slam, the end of the competition. We will project later.”
