“We wanted a decor with bright colors”

In our wedding section, a reader talks about the happiest day of her life. Today, Delphine reveals the behind-the-scenes of her wedding, this unique and romantic moment, from choosing her dress to exchanging vows.

Lovers:

  • Delphine and Jonathan, both 27 years old at the time of their marriage.
  • Were together for nine years before they said yes.

The wedding

“We planned our wedding in one day. For no particular reason, it was just like that in our heads. We started with the town hall before the secular ceremony and the party.

We chose to do our photoshoot between the first two parts, because we didn’t want to have to leave the aperitif (or another time of the day) and leave our guests, and then miss part of the party. After the ceremony, we had an aperitif, then continued with the meal around 5pm and the party started around 9pm.”

The place

“We got married in Jose’s Farmin Herve, because it was important for us that the venue was in our region. On the one hand to avoid wasting time traveling, but also for convenience for our guests who came 90% from the area, and for us to be able to return home easily after the party.”

The preparation

“For makeup, it’s beautician Céline Lahaye, from the institute Time for yourself at Henri-Chapellewho took care of it. She came straight to the hair salon Height Hairdressing in Welkenraedtwhere I was getting ready. I was particularly pleased with the hairdresser, by the way, who does wedding hairstyles very regularly.”

The dress

“I didn’t have a very specific idea about my ‘perfect’ dress, but as soon as I put on THE dress, I knew it. I found it at The Amber Dressesin Liège. Jonathan, for his part, found at Suitsupply.

The decoration

“I organized and made everything myself, with the help of my friends and family. I bought a lot of it second-hand and did some DIY.

We chose orange tones because it’s a color I really like. We were seeing a lot of terracotta at the time, but I wanted a wedding that was a little more lively and summery, so we went with orange, red and yellow flowers.”

The photo shoot

“We wanted the session to take place in a nearby location so as not to waste time and we found a perfect place, at a friend’s house who lives in a castle not far from the town. The location was sublime, the sun was shining and our photographer was perfect. So we had all the elements for a superb photoshoot. My sister came with us to help us, put my dress back on, hold it, etc.

Everything was very natural and our photographer Pauline Wéry, Pauline, it’s a love storyguided us in our positions, actions, etc. All our fears about this session were erased, time passed very quickly. The shots are sublime and everything seemed natural to us. We are delighted with the result! And the big plus is that we received the photos in a week!”

The meal

“We had planned a meal for a small group, just close family and our best friends in ‘classic’ mode, three courses at the table. We chose this formula because it was ‘obvious’ for us to keep this classic side, a time sitting at the table.

We didn’t think for a second about doing it differently. It was very pleasant and that’s when the interventions of our relatives took place. It was so pleasant that we didn’t see the time go by and we had to speed up a little for the desserts, because the evening guests were going to arrive soon.”

The first dance

“So, this first dance is really overrated. It is highly anticipated by the guests, and we ourselves had thought about it a lot. And finally, it was not as moving as we would have thought. We had already experienced the wedding so much before this first dance that it did not turn out to be exceptional. For us, ‘our music’ is that of the ceremony, the magic was at that moment, at the beginning of the day.”
