Arvo Perta Brothers is one of the most played works of the composer, written for an indefinite composition of instruments, thus allowing a wide variety of performance variations. The piece vividly illustrates Perth’s tintinnabuli compositional style, in which one melodic motif is played in a wide variety of possible forms and characters, and combining the dimensions of activity and silence, incorporates Perth’s idea that “moment and eternity struggle in us.”
Pianist Agnese Egliņa tells about Imants Zemzars’ composition: “Several years ago, composer Imants Zemzaris sent me a letter with the score of the piano composition“ Mēnesnīca ”and a request to play it once. Spring time would be really suitable for that, because on April 14, Imants Zemzaris will celebrate his 70th anniversary. It will be a small gift from me to the composer and listeners at the festival. ”
