“We want Joe!”: All-Star Joe Johnson scores on NBA comeback at 40 | NBA

It is a phenomenon thanks to corona. The NBA teams must find replacements for the players who become infected with corona. As a result, Boston signed a contract with Joe Johnson.

The 40-year-old seven-time All-Star, who played his last NBA game on May 29, 2018, was drafted as No. 10 by Boston in 2001, but only played 48 games for the Celtics before being sent to Phoenix.

In the final phase of the match against Cleveland, the fans called him onto the field. “We want Joe! We want Joe!”. Boston coach Ime Udoka gave the fans what they wanted and with less than 2 minutes on the clock Johnson was allowed to fill in.

In the final minute, Johnson sealed his comeback with a score, which resulted in a standing ovation. Boston already had the victory thanks to the 34 points of star Jaylen Brown.

“I have very fond memories of Joe,” said Brown, who grew up in Atlanta, where Johnson played for a long time. “I’ve seen him shine in play-offs for the Hawks, so this really resonates with me.”

Cleveland had won his previous 6 games, but now had to do without starters Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley and Isaac Okoro, all out due to corona rules in the NBA. Cleveland’s previous game was cancelled.
