At the upcoming meeting of the Council of the European Union on Agriculture and Fisheries, Bulgaria will raise the issue of the significant reduction of co-financing from the EU for veterinary and phytosanitary programs. In this regard, we will request the inclusion of urgent measures within the current Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for the period 2021-2027. The meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture will be held on October 21 and 22 in Luxembourg, and the government approved the Bulgarian position today.
In the field of agriculture, the Council is expected to approve Conclusions on the Common Agricultural Policy for the period after 2027. Bulgaria will support the content of the document and will emphasize the importance of achieving external convergence of direct payments, which will create a level playing field for farmers in the EU. The ministers are also expected to exchange views on the subject of the challenges it faces
the European food chain.
During the meeting, the Commission is expected to present information on agricultural trade issues.
