In the elections, we vote in 12,314 sections in the country, and in 294 outside Bulgaria in 45 countries.

The electoral lists for municipal councilors and for mayors – contain 6,363,238 voters – Bulgarian citizens, and the foreign citizens who have the right to vote in our country are 523 voters. The number of persons deleted from the electoral rolls for the local elections is 534,144. The electoral rolls for the national referendum contain 6,885,893 voters. The number of persons deleted from the electoral rolls for the national referendum is 16,755. The number of voters who submitted a request to vote at their current address for the elections for municipal councilors and mayors is 137,455, and for the national referendum – 102,950.

The lists include all Bulgarian citizens who meet the conditions regulated in the IC and in the Law on Direct Participation of Citizens in State Power and Local Self-Government. As of the beginning of October, the total number of registered candidates for municipal councilors and mayors for the local elections this fall was 42,702. 71 parties and 3 coalitions were registered to participate in the local elections.

The longest ballot for mayor of a municipality is in Sofia – 21 candidates. The ballot is the shortest in Simitli and in Dolna Banya – with one candidate each. The largest number of registered candidate lists for municipal councilors is in Blagoevgrad and in the metropolitan municipality, where they are 32. Accordingly, there are also the longest ballots for municipal councilors. Next is the ballot in Varna, in which there are 31 lists. There are only three lists in 6 municipalities.

13,155 law enforcement officers will guard the elections. This year’s election was also determined to be record expensive – over BGN 50 million. According to the government’s plan-account, the necessary funds for the vote amount to BGN 50,551,000.

The Central Electoral Commission determined that machine voting should take place in one multi-mandate electoral district for the election of municipal councilors in a total of 50 electoral sections located on the territory of the Capital Municipality.

We remind you that in 2011, when local and presidential elections were held on October 23, the number of voters on the electoral rolls for local votes was 6,514,917, and for the presidential elections – 6,933,748.

In 2011, 444,749 persons with a current address abroad were deleted from the electoral lists for municipal councilors and mayors as of June 22, 2011. Deleted from the electoral lists by permanent address and entered into the electoral lists by current address for the local elections were 94 507 persons, and for the presidential ones – 90,888.
