Finally called on Tuesday 222 authors for children and young people and illustrators that the Permanent Council will reverse its decision: “We do not want to accept this intentional exclusion in silence”

“On April 6th we published that the Catholic Children’s and Youth Book Prize will not be awarded. We very much regret that we could not follow the jury’s suggestion this year Adolescents.
However, the prevailing opinion among the bishops was that the book did not adequately meet the price criteria. Neither the topic of #transgender nor the author – who has been on the #recommendation list several times in the past few years – were decisive for this.
The DBK is grateful to the jury for their work. We understand the irritation that has arisen. We’ll take the large amount of feedback first. They make clear the expectations of our commitment to children’s and youth literature, which the Church will continue to bring in. “
