“We understand that it is not safe to return to face-to-face classes”

By Editorial Group La Verdad

The general secretary of UDOCBA Junín, Cecilia Paolizzi, expressed in an interview with Grupo La Verdad her disagreement with the decision of the province of Buenos Aires to return to face-to-face classes in schools starting this Wednesday.

He also questioned the request made these days by Mayor Pablo Petrecca for Junín to be another of the Buenos Aires districts that begins with the return of students to classrooms.

“We were surprised that they want to go back to pre-specialization. Virtuality guarantees less amount of circulation and infections. Faced with this contagion curve, we had said that we preferred virtuality and not presence. I insist, this return to presence in some districts of the Province is striking, “said the local leader in dialogue with LT 20 Radio Junín and La Verdad newspaper.

“Junín remains working in virtuality due to the phase he is in. On the other hand, the protocols require ventilation in the classrooms. We know that in some districts, students brought their own blankets to keep them warm because the windows have to be open in the classrooms. Teaching and learning cannot be carried out under these conditions, ”Paolizzi added.

“As teachers, as education workers and as defenders of the rights of our members, we consider that this is a measure that could have been expected. The conditions must be guaranteed, it is not to return to the presence at any cost, at any price. It is not like this. One is a defender of these issues, we understand that it is not safe to return to face-to-face classes ”, he remarked below.

Petrecca’s request
On the other hand, when asked about the request made by the Mayor of Junín to the Province of Buenos Aires so that our city also returns to the presence, Paolizzi replied: “They are obviously related to their party ideology. We have always been critical of the position they have, we do not understand how having such a high contagion line they can today pretend to return to the classrooms given the situation in which Junín is. This hurts us as teachers and as citizens, someone who should take care of us not only does not take care of us but also makes a policy in favor of contagion. This Mayor, with his neoliberal policies, was always akin to not taking care of the citizen, not caring about anything about the other ”.
