– We think with gratitude and pride about those working in the health sector, theirs is one of the most beautiful professions, we should thank them for their work – said Bence Rétvári (KDNP), the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, on Friday in Vác.

In his speech at the Semmelweis Day ceremony held at the Váci Jávorszky Ödön Hospital, the politician from the ruling party emphasized that this day has been a holiday for health workers for more than a decade. Anyone who goes to a hospital always speaks with great respect of those who work there, but on this day it is even more so, they appreciate those who work every day of the year to make people healthy, he said.

He emphasized that Semmelweis Day on July 1 is also particularly important this year, because this is when the salary increase for healthcare workers comes into effect, fulfilling an old request of the government. The time of the coronavirus epidemic brought a significant salary increase for doctors, then the salary table brought by the chamber was put into effect by the government, he reminded.

He said: doctors’ wages have risen to a large extent, which provided an opportunity to withdraw the gratuity, and now the nursing wage increase can also be realized. Their wages will rise twice in twelve months, he said.

He also mentioned that, despite the difficulties, more will be spent on healthcare in the budget that is before the parliament and will be adopted next week than this year.

He believed that important steps have been taken in the healthcare sector in recent times, such as salary increases and the management of hospitals.

Dr. Edina Urbán, the chief physician of the Jávorszky Ödön Hospital, praised the healing activities of her colleagues with kind words. As he put it: The life of our namesake – as well as our work – is about perseverance. We successfully overcame the epidemic, which required a huge change and quick response and adaptation to the change. Everyone must have an inner drive, let’s call it a sense of vocation, selfless help, or self-sacrifice, which keeps him here, which, despite the difficulties, makes him take part in the treatment of patients day after day – were the words of the director general, who said that the Váci The community of Ödön Jávorszky Hospital passed the exam excellently in adapting to change.

Dr. Edina Urbán highlighted: the cooperation of the professional community helped to deal with everyday situations and successfully solve the challenges associated with the changes, the burden was eased by the fact that this year nearly twenty professionals obtained professional qualifications, and the number of resident doctors at the Vác hospital doubled compared to the previous years. He asked his older medical colleagues to set an example and help retain the young people, since in the long term they ensure the continuity and healing activities of the hospital.

He announced that 88 high school students will participate in practical and theoretical training at the Váci Jávorszky Ödön Hospital.

Director-General Edina Dr. Urbán thanked the hospital staff for their self-sacrificing work on behalf of the chief medical officers. – We have to keep this community because it is needed! he concluded his speech.

The medical director, Dr. Katalin Szalai, gave a high-quality presentation about the professional life of Ignác Semmelweis, who was born 205 years ago, his outstanding activity in healing, and his intellectual heritage, in which he emphasized that medicine has to deal with many new challenges today, just like the scientist.

At the Semmelweis Day ceremony, chief physician and assistant professor appointments were handed over. Employees who have been working at the hospital for 40, 30 and 25 years were recognized on the Hungarian healthcare day. The Ruzsicska Award, founded by the Inczédy family in 2002, was presented as part of the ceremony.
