WE TELL YOU THE DETAILS OF OUR CAMPAIGN AGAINST BREAST CANCER

This Sunday we preview the pink jersey with the aim of making an impact on our society against breast cancer.

Lima, October 2022.- Cancer is a disease that has affected all families in some way. Breast cancer is the most frequent and common cause of cancer death in women worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2020 more than 2.2 million women developed the disease and about 685,000 died. In Peru, the National Institute of Health indicates that 6,860 new cases of breast cancer were registered in 2021. Furthermore, the WHO estimates that 90% of early detected breast cancers can be cured, so strengthening the culture of prevention is essential.

Club Sporting Cristal, adidas and Oncosalud have united in a historic way to spread this important message, through the launch of the pink jersey. So we decided, through an institutional video, to tell you about our initiative.

First of all, we wanted to invite as many women of different ages to participate in the campaign. We can observe, Gabriela León, technical assistant of the first women’s team; to our great actress and proud fan, Bettina Oneto; to Alondra Vílchez, scorer of our first women’s team; Rosmy Gagliuffi, physiotherapist and great medical professional of Sporting Cristal; to our loyal fan who never misses a match at the stadium, Sahara Mendoza and to Mrs. Elenita, who always greets us with a big smile at her candy stand at the door of La Florida. They are fighting the women – which has always been a hallmark of Sporting Cristal – who helped us share this message and we publicly thank them for their absolute commitment. But not only to them, but also to the first men’s team, who will wear the jersey during the month of October in League 1 matches. Omar Merlo, Horacio Calcaterra, Yoshi Yotún, Diego Buonanotte, Irven Ávila and Ale Hohberg shared moments with us unforgettable moments of recording, also committed body and soul to this important cause.

Second, the main idea of ​​the video is to raise awareness of the importance of breast cancer prevention with common calcium episodes. There are four specific actions related to the concept of prevention, because sometimes when they explain it to us with football we understand much better. Our aim is for the whole family to pay attention to this disease and not neglect it. That if they are women over the age of 40, they undergo a mammogram, that they maintain a healthy lifestyle, that they visit their doctor once a year and that they discard themselves.

As part of all our campaign dissemination actions, this Sunday we will become the first Peruvian team to join the global awareness initiative on breast cancer prevention, wearing a pink jersey, which fills us with pride. . Likewise, on match day, adidas will place a space at the National Stadium with specialists and with the support of Oncosalud, where all women will be able to take a self-exam. We also thank the IPD for joining this action, providing us with all the facilities to raise awareness among the fans who will accompany us to the stadium.

It is clear that when we come together, we can achieve great things. Sporting Cristal is much more than a football club and it is these initiatives that further strengthen our identity.
