Polakis in a bloody surgeon’s apron, like the butcher Daniel Day Lewis in “Gangs of New York”, saying that girls will no longer hide their love where the goat grazes.
Samaras relaxed, with his jacket on his shoulder, and Voridis, with a sardonic smile, next to Schertsos, in the ministerial positions. And the bill is passed without opening a nose. Would it really be an image that captures social reality? Not even a joke. It would be a falsification of the landscape, a bad backdrop made of cardboard. Parliamentary associations gave relief to the morphology of society.
And I understood that all of us who, according to Samaras, have been assimilated by the woke culture must be a little more careful with our language and style. Because indeed, slowly but surely, the map of society folds creating a crease like a dividing line. And two currents emerge that move in opposite directions. On the one hand there are those who shake off the old as if it were dust.
Who are in a hurry to make up for lost time and experience the new world. And on the other side stand, visibly surprised as well as shocked, those who are unable, unwilling, afraid to follow the paces of the times. Because, let’s face it, the world has never changed so fast. A section of society woke up one morning, looked out the window and was horrified to find that everything was different. The embarrassment and panic of these people is often mocked – I have succumbed to the temptation myself. And I often wonder what is more correct. Conflict or settlement?
People have long since ceased to clash over ideologies. It is a controversy of the past. Now they clash over perceptions. And since societies are being reprogrammed to move into the century, doing a hard reset as our people say, it is logical to raise objections. What we see happening in the US is very close to what I am describing to you.
From a point on, the internal conflicts will not have an ideological or class character, but a cultural one. The next populist who will try to charm the audience will not promise leaps into the future but a return to the past. He will speak of values and ideals, he will defend what is being lost. And it will find followers from among the ranks of those who today see the world melting like wax, feel that they do not know how to speak, even to touch.
So as long as we, of the… woke culture, push the cart without looking back, we deepen the rift and increase the distance from the procession that follows by cursing. You will tell me that this has always happened. Always the “elite” or the social vanguard of each era pulled forward, dragging the rest along. Correctly. But now it’s different. Once upon a time there were systemic communication channels that covered every different point of view. Even if you shouted, no one would hear you. Networking enables meetings and gatherings. There’s no way you’ll be alone. You will always find people who agree with you. And so we witness a conflict between people and social groups living in different centuries.
Samaras said something very correct in the Parliament. Anyone who has a different point of view is mocked, labeled a far-right, fascist. And he’s right. Somewhere maybe we took it longer than we should. And instead of conversing, we lash out at those who fail to follow. We rightly demand respect for the fellow citizen who declares non-binary, but we shower with mockery and veiled insults the one who stilts his feet and refuses to take a step. Yes, I know it’s very difficult to talk to him. We speak a different language, adopt different values, see everything differently. But we all share the same world. We can’t afford everyone to live in one of their own.
