According to Morawiecki, NATO’s fourth article is “a decision that stipulates that the parties will jointly consult whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the allied countries is threatened.”

“It seems that this is needed more and more. Since it is no longer enough for us to publicly express our concern. Now we need concrete steps and the intervention of the entire Alliance,” the Polish prime minister said.

Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty reads as follows: “The contracting parties will always consult with each other if, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the contracting parties is threatened.”

In NATO explain – the fourth article allows the members of the Alliance to bring up any issue of concern, especially related to security, for discussion by the NATO Council. At these consultations, the member countries can simply exchange information, or they can take some kind of consensual decision. Since the creation of the Alliance in 1949, Article 4 has been applied six times. Last time – Turkey.
