“We need music so as not to die of disgust” – El Faradio

Night of Rock organizes in Miengo a concert with Mehnai, adapted to the health safety regulations: the cart is worn out, but the wheels will keep turning as long as we know that soon, on the road, there will be a new stop ”.

This weekend at the Civic Center of Cudón (Miengo), there was a reunion with live music, organized by the association Noche de Rock (promoters of the program of the same name, which is broadcast on Arco FM, the home of EL FARADO) and the City Council.

With him, with the performance of the singer-songwriter Carmen Bartolomé, Mehnai, he broke with a “concert drought that we had never known”, as graphically described on his website by Oskar Sánchez, the soul of Noche de Rock.
A “nervous” Menhai, because, after all, “we have all lost our inertia”.

With songs like Grab it While it is hot, Trust Freebird and Red Dragon, interspersed with others already classic in their repertoire such as I am Calling you by Jevetta Steele, Jhon, I Love you by Sinead O ‘Connor and even a couple of previews of what will be his next album, which culminated with What’s Up? of 4 Non Blondes, which, in view of what happened in the last twelve months, takes on a new meaning of “strangeness”.

For Oskar Sánchez –literally, decades devoted to music, giving visibility to groups and creating community–, there is a “tunnel” in the year marked by the lack of sun that this year, “with no other refuge than our own houses (…) it has become longer and more oppressive ”.

“Children, work, the rest of the routines have gained space in this strange time and the music turns us around to remind us that not so long ago it occupied all of our weekends, while we wonder in surprise how we did it to find the hole” , he reflects.

“Something was missing and it was this,” he valued after the concert, advancing that “we have our eyes fixed on the next one” because yes, “the cart is worn out, but the wheels will continue turning as long as we know that soon, on the road, there will be a new stop ”.

A concert marked by everyone’s rules (distance, gel, masks, the smallest capacity, prior reservation), that is to say, “new trips” that imply “new ways of jumping them”.

Honest until the end, he confesses that “we continue to think about the way we approach the things we like” because “in reality all this is only half altruistic, we need music so as not to die of disgust. We also do it for ourselves ”.
