James Anderson lives in the city of Burnley in the north of England and is a plumber specializing in plumbing and heating. In 2017 he founded a non-profit organization to help the elderly and people with disabilities who cannot afford repairs.
James keeps a promise
The trigger for this charitable foundation was a promise to his little son William, James explained in an interview on BBC breakfast television. William died as a child in 2013, and his father promised him at the time that he would be “the man his son would grow up to be,” he told bbc.com. Now James hopes he has “made his son proud” with his company.
Special promotion 2019
News channel ‘Good News Movement’ reported on Instagram how James helped a 91-year-old terminally ill with leukemia in 2019. Commenting on his £0 bill, he said: “No charge for this lady, under any circumstances. We will be available 24/7 to assist you and make you as comfortable as possible.” The channel’s verdict: “Well done James! We need more of your kind in the world!!”
Urgent repairs for the needy
James’ Emergency Plumbing and Heating Repair now works with 67 contractors and thousands of volunteers across the country. He is delighted with this development, noting that “every time we go to work, every time we show our humanity, there’s a little bit of William.”
James’ belief: “I have the best job in the world”
The day they had to stop his son’s life support, James decided to change his life and become a “better person”.
Since starting his company, he has been able to help more and more people every year. Furthermore, the rising cost of living meant that he was “busier than ever”. Unfortunately, the number of needy people who are on their last legs continues to grow. “We want to get them out of there, remove the stigma. We do what we can for everyone,” he underlines. Now he has even expanded the offer and, for example, also lays carpets, delivers groceries and helps with the procurement of Christmas gifts.
