GWD Minden clearly lost the semifinals of the Spielo Cup 2023. Adalsteinn Eyjolfsson’s team lost to TBV Lemgo by 28:41 (15:23). The Green-Whites are playing for third place in the traditional tournament on Saturday.
It was by no means boring in the first few minutes of the semi-final between the two teams from East Westphalia. Driven by the agile middlemen Amine Darmoul and Emil-Buhl Laerke, the goals came almost every minute. However, TBV Lemgo’s position as the favorite was reflected more and more in the result as the game went on. Five goals (7:12) were between the first and second division teams after the first quarter of an hour because Lipper acted more calmly, made use of technical mistakes by the green-whites and a majority situation. In the highly intensive phase after the 8:14 (20th), substitute Lucas Grabitz made a few saves that ensured that the TBV could not completely rush. Nevertheless, the Dankerser took a decent mortgage into the dressing room: eight goals behind and a time penalty against Florian Kranzmann.
After the change it became even clearer: At 16:26 (34 th ) the deficit was ten goals for the first time. The Lemgoer continued to score almost at will, the GWD team looked for the red thread in the attacking game and the bond with Armine Darmoul, who was back in the squad for the first time after a four-week injury break. The newly formed team made mistakes in passing, rarely presented the opposing keepers with unsolvable tasks and hardly ever won the ball in order to successfully get into the tempo game. So there was no surprise and the guests from Lemgo were able to easily buy the final ticket. After all, the Minden side could be happy about the comeback of Justus Richtzenhain. The circle runner was used in the last few minutes after surviving a cruciate ligament injury. Adalsteinn Eyolfsson also spread optimism, not being upset after another friendly defeat: “You could see that we still need time, a sense of achievement would certainly do us good. We will definitely perform differently tomorrow.”
