“We might overvalue a guy’s youth” Nick Wright thinks Celtics’ simplest trade offer for Kevin Durant is a $25 million star

nick wright is back in the headlines when he added another one of his weird, white-hot versions of the rumors that Kevin Durant will soon be traded to the Boston Celtics. The Celtics have unexpectedly been the first in the race to acquire Kevin Durant and it’s all very unexpected. The Cs recently offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and some future draft picks for Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets. But the offers were rejected and were countered by the addition of DPOY Marcus Smart who, of course, didn’t work out well with the Celtics. Many now believe the deal is dead. But Nick Wright has added a totally different version to it, since he thinks sending jayson tatum on the other side you can land KD in Boston.

Jayson Tatum is a future superstar, as his performance and impact are strong enough to be heard by everyone in the league. Whereas Kevin Durant is a generational talent, one of the best scorers in the game and more importantly a superstar in the current league. The deal will not sound fair to many due to the age difference between the two main players around whom a package would be built. But Nick Wright recently made that abundantly clear when he came up with the best possible explanation for executing this particular trade. But again, the decision is entirely up to the two franchises involved and if they want to run something, they should surely consider Nick Wright’s advice.

Nick Wright giving his opinion on a Jayson Tatum trade for Kevin Durant quoted: “I think Brown more ‘Time-Lord’ [Robert Williams] and three picks could do it… So I think maybe this trade will be done at some point. The simple trade is Kevin Durant for Jayson Tatum. Now, because of the salaries, you would have to add something like, grant williams and Sam Hauser, but it would be essentially one on one, no elections, you know what I mean. Hour by hour, a budding superstar for your current superstar. We get the best player you get, the longest track… Tatum is one of the ten guys I wouldn’t trade for KD because of age.”

Furthermore, Nick Wright also gave a solid explanation and solution for the age issue when he quoted: “Bill Simmons kept saying, ‘I’m not going to trade 15 years of Player X for 3 years of Kevin Durant.’ Here’s why I mention it. 15 years of Player X is no longer a thing… Jayson Tatum has three years left on his contract and I’m not saying he will demand a trade. In today’s NBA, with the mobility of players and guys that require trade within contracts, moving around, is it possible that we’re overvaluing a guy’s youth? Because the assumption had been, ‘Well, his career will take place in one place. Say who? It could be that the Celtics have KD for the next three years [or] Tatum for the next three years, and then he’s gone. So who would you rather have?

Nick Wright’s opinion makes sense and is quite understandable. Since it is not about the next 15 years but about the first three years that both individuals can give to a franchise. So age won’t be a big question but injuries surely are and can’t be stopped or controlled so they are listed during trade talks but don’t make any sense and are still part of the system. So it’s fair to say that a trade between Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant may work, but their loyalty to the teams will play a huge role in such situations.
