Health authorities emphasize another type of curve which was produced by a team from Hasselt University. In this curve, we observe small black dots which represent the number of hospitalizations in Belgium. We can see that this number increased over time. “It seems that we have reached a peak and we are now in a slow decrease, but which is confirmed“explains Emmanuel André, inter-federal spokesperson in the fight against Covid-19.

The first scenario is that no action was taken when the authorities decided to take it. At that time, we were in a curve which started extremely strong. All efforts that we did we allowed to flatten the curve. “We were able to avoid this scenario thanks to everyone’s commitment and solidarity,” says the virologist.

The second scenario is the one that could have happened, if, as of April 16, we had started to live normally, with all of the contacts, without paying attention. If, at that time, we had decided to take no further action, we would have had again an exponential start.
