That’s why the serial junkies editorial team got together and voted on the films we’re particularly looking forward to in the coming year. Whether it’s indie films, dramas, comedies, biographies or superhero blockbusters, there’s sure to be something for all tastes. Also this year, adaptations of comics or video games are mixed with sequels or prequels, as well as new editions of well-known material. But some fresh and original ideas will also find their way into the cinemas. We can look forward to new films by popular directors such as James Cameron, Jordan Peele, Sam Raimi and Taika Waititi, who want to cause a sensation with their creative work.
As a result, we now present our favorites in alphabetical order. We left out the highlights for this January, because you can find them as usual in our monthly highlight article. Which films are you most looking forward to? Do you think it will be a good cinema year or is it probably one of the weaker ones? And what films are on your program that may not have made it into our list?
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Too much of the story of the sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom‘ not previously known, but the title has a connection with the comic and the kingdom of Atlantis. In the first film, Orm already mentioned the seventh kingdom of Atlantis, which, however, has disappeared.
Back are: Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, and Amber Heard as Mera. It remains to be seen whether Nicole Kidman will be back as Atlanna and Willem Dafoe as Vulko. Pilou Asbaek, known from Game of Thrones, is new to the mix.
James Wan may at “Aquaman 2‘ take a seat in the director’s chair again. He will also produce together with Peter Safran. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who wrote the first part, will also narrate the second Arthur Curry film. The start date, at least for the USA, is scheduled for December 16th for the winter.
