We know the Opel timetable until 2025. The rebirth of Manta is also going to take place!

Next year of the brand with a lightning bolt in the emblem will be marked by the arrival of the new generation of the Opel Astra.

The new Astra will arrive at domestic Opel showrooms at the turn of the first and second quarters of next year. The station wagon version will follow about a quarter of a year apart. This follows from the information from the Deník and Automix.cz editors, which it obtained from well-informed sources. Around the same time, a majorly upgraded Grandland SUV will also be launched. We will bring driving impressions from the first acquaintance with this car at the beginning of next week.

In the passenger car segment, these will be the only major news for next year. However, very important things for Opel will also be done in the commercial vehicle category. “Already at the very beginning of the year, both the new Movano (which is the largest of Opel’s commercial vehicles on offer) will be imported, which will also be available with an electric drive, and the electric version of the small Combo van,” said Opel spokesman Martin Hejral.

An even more revolutionary step will be Vivara’s offer with hydrogen fuel cell propulsion. It will be possible to order this at the end of next year.

Opel has already announced that by 2028 it will become a “purely electric brand”. It follows that the new Astra will also be offered with a fully electric drive from approximately 2023. From the very beginning of sales, customers will be able to choose not only combustion units but also plug-in hybrid devices.

Opel will enter China

In the current state of legislation in the Czech Republic, Opel CEO Josef Šopík does not yet expect ordinary motorists to change to electric cars. “However, the situation is completely different in the field of commercial vehicles. We sold the allocated quota of electric Vivar very quickly and in fact without any advertising,” he says.

The new generation of the flagship Insignia is also expected to arrive in 2023. But it is likely that the focus of this car will change. So instead of the current classic bodies, a crossover is expected.

The generational replacement of its current models will be completed by the German brand during 2024. This will introduce a new generation of Crossland and Grandland SUVs. Undoubtedly, an electric drive is being prepared for them as well.

In 2025 at the latest, the final version of the new generation of the cult Manta model will also be shown. Of course, it will run exclusively on electricity.

Only the cars that Opel’s engineers are preparing for the brand’s entry into the Chinese market will also be electrically powered. However, close cooperation with the Peugeot and Citroën brands and their partners in this Asian country is likely here.
