Even if the Angoulême comic book festival will not exist as usual (Covid obliges), the organizers are offering an event in two distinct moments. Initially, the month of January will be the time of the award ceremony (the Fauves) to the winners.
The Official Prize List of the International Comic Strip Festival will therefore be unveiled on Friday January 29, 2021. It is made up of 12 prizes called Fauves d’Angoulême. It will honor works published between December 1, 2019 and November 30, 2020 in the French language, distributed in bookstores in French-speaking countries, without distinction of country of origin. Several juries will award the Fauves d’Angoulême, chosen from among five lists of pre-selected works, lists made up by three selection committees brought together by the International Comic Strip Festival during the year 2020.

Step 1: from a selection of 15 albums from the Official Selection, 1,000 high school students will retain a “short list” of 5 titles.
Step 2: a jury of 10 high school students selected at random will meet to elect the winner from among the 5 designated albums.
Then, in June, the organizers still hope to be able to organize meetings with all the contributors to the event (authors, publishers, booksellers, etc.) and all comic strip enthusiasts. And this, of course, by implementing a number of actions in compliance with the health measures that will be in force.
