An immigrant mother of 4 children was killed in a shooting Thursday while returning home from a day’s work.
This is what his son Janse Joseph told us, who points out that they came from Haiti only 4 years ago. Neighbors are outraged by what happened.
“Imagine it is a life that is lost,” said a neighbor.
“We need police, we need attention,” added another neighbor.
According to authorities, two people were shot during the shooting that occurred around 8:30 p.m. Thursday outside a barber shop at 1525 St. John’s Place in Brooklyn.

The woman, who has not yet been identified by police but her son says his name is Limose Dort, 54, was shot twice in the chest and died at Kings County Hospital.
“I cannot express how bad I feel, it is quite strong, I know that my mother has no problem with anyone,” said son Janse Joseph.
“We just moved, we don’t know anyone, we go and come work, that’s all we do, it’s very difficult,” added the son.
Her mother, Janse added, was a home health worker, or Home Attendant.
The other victim is a 30-year-old man, who was wounded in the arm and is in the hospital in stable condition. Police say the man has not cooperated with the investigation.
Neighbors say they are concerned about a recent wave of violence in the neighborhood.
“These shootings have been happening for days, in less than a month and they have already gone like four times, it is ugly, it is painting this ugly around here,” said another neighbor.
“It is very dangerous, we are living in the most difficult moments due to the lack of police. They attacked me in Woodhull, in Flushing and Broadway. At Woodhull Hospital, a man attacked me and I ran, he could not reach me and attacked another woman, “added the second of the neighbors interviewed.
The investigation continues and the police do not know the motive for the shooting.
At the moment no information has been released about the shooter and the authorities believe that Dort is an innocent victim and that he was not the target of the bullets.
Her son says he has three other siblings in Haiti who are left without their mother. Janse has created a gofundme page to receive donations that will go towards funeral expenses.
Police are asking anyone with information about this shooting to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous line at 1-888-57-PISTA.
